So what is INQ Mobile? Even better, what is a Social Mobile? Well, let’s just say it’s a new breed of mobile phones that makes the Internet’s top social services ubiquitous with your own mobile. We’re talking having services like Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Windows Messenger, hell.. even eBay’s in the mix!
However, what’s getting me more intrigued than the social applications they’ve got hardwired into their phones, is their collaboration with artists. Everything from packaging, to instruction cards (instead of manuals, how novel!) has been carefully thought of with one goal, don’t chuck it, enjoy the love that went into making this product. A really nice touch.. ’specially when everything seems to impersonal these days. Check the artists out here.

Another interesting feature, is what they call Switcher. It’s a scroll on the side of the phone, that manipulates a wheel of applications for quick access. I think it’s a great one-touch solution without needing to exit an application to access another one. The GUI reminds me of Apples dock, and we all know how easy that is.

So overall, a rather interesting product. I’m more interested in how the phone works and it’s usability than it’s applications actually. The applications look like they have been well designed to meet the needs of today’s always-on generation, but in today’s market place, getting your programming right is a given. That’s why, I’ve identified the key differentiators of INQ Mobile’s product to be its unique product design and GUI, and also the culture behind it. The devil’s in the details, and I’d love to try one out. It’s not available in Singapore yet, but if we’d all like something innovative and new, who knows? there might be a demand for the INQ Mobile. -)
*Contest is open to Singapore Residents and PR. Winners will be notified by email after 15 September 2009

After all the hype and crazy apps and games around, my usage of the phone has withered down to the constant checking of social media sites. An INQ phone with its convenient Switcher function will be all that I really, really need!
Not only i can access MSN, i can also use Facebook and Twitter!Of course I think weight is very important and INQ phones are slim and lightweight! Its just like a portable computer!

Well, with such rapid technological advancements these days, its really hard to keep up. But then again, thats how many of the items came up. For instance, there’s the laptop, which was kind of like an “improved version” of desktops (which cant be brought around easily.) which is more compact than the conventional PCs, but still serves the same purpose.
Even then, early laptops were bulky and heavy, unlike now where the majority of them weigh less than 2kg. But well nothing’s ever enough for us humans. Now there comes the netbook, evolving from compact laptops. Even though laptops are so much lighter and compact than desktops, some still found it too much to carry about.
And I guess thats how netbooks came about.
What are they for? Checking of emails, replying of emails? Not just so I suppose. I am sure, that if you have a netbook, you’ll use it to update your facebook status and tweet about your life. I mean, why not since its so convenient!
And the best example? Xiaxue bought her netbook to play pets society!
In short, all these just shows how much technology is in our life these days. Come on, lets face it, how many of you can live without going online for a week? I doubt there are many. Lets not even mention facebook and twitter, which are becoming so much of a phenomenon these days.
I always believed that one day, some phone designers are going to incorporate all of our favourite applications into a phone since humans are always improving. A netbook is simply not enough. Still too bulky. At least for me.
So when I saw what Holly posted on her blog and twitter, you cant imagine how excited I was about it. I mean, a “social mobile”? I believe it would be a great hit with us teenagers even if it comes with a hefty price tag. I mean, frankly, look at teenagers these days. The phones some of them are carrying are well more expensive than what many adults are carrying.(Not me though! :( )
What makes this even more attractive is the affordable price and the functions that comes with it. And ohhh! They also have a miniature one, which would definitely be a hit with petite girls like us! Their wonderful-ness is furthered justified by all the awards INQ has been given! Truly marvelous.
As for what functions INQ¹ has, basically it caters to everything I as a typical teenager use. Twitter, facebook, emails. What makes it even better is the fact that your screensaver can be the facebook main page which is dynamic. Not the dead ones which just shows what it seems to show. But one that changes according to whatever your friends post and things like that.
As quoted from the site, “Instant messaging on INQ¹ is as easy as sending an sms.” Need I say more? Instant messaging is so much a part of our lives now. It is definitely going to be of good use to all of us! Well, this saves your sms! (IM is free but sms is not! So the more friends you have online 24/7, the lesser you spend on sms-es! So get more people to buy INQ¹ when it launches!)
Ok, the incredible-ness of INQ¹ cannot be summarised in this short “essay”. You should probably go read about it! (The link is at Holly’s blog.) I am very sure you would want this phone as bad as I do if you are a avid facebook, twitter and IM fan!
P/S: I am going to buy it for sure. And pester my boyfriend to buy it as well the moment it gets to Singapore!

With InQ, I’ll be able to facebook whenever i’m awake now instead of checking my facebook only when i’m on my netbook/desktop.
Being able to MSN on the go means that i’m always connected to my friends~
My current phone just doesn’t support all these, perhaps INQ will finally solve my problems once and for all~
be social, be connected, be InQ
you know what this means?
i don’t have to find frickin’ third party software to get on twitter or facebook. not like my current phone (nokia e71. love it but sometimes it really drives me stark raving mad).
also. i want the box. the casing. its home. its shell. the thing it comes with. PRODUCT PACKAGING! sucker for pretty artsy and colourful things. i do keep the product packaging for most of my gadgets anyway (macbook, dslr, compact camera, optical mouse etc).
also, the website theme/layout/interface is so trippy and appeals to the closet-designer strapped within. on a random note, im supposed to be talking about the phone and yet here i am gushing about EVERYTHING else except the phone. okok. i’ll stop being so off-tangent. *sulks*
the simple fact is that, it’s like the holy grail for all of us social media whores/addicts/junkies. it has everything, with just a simple touch or a flick or a scroll we can easily access our next favourite social media platform application. (see, this is something even the almighty iphone will not have nor be able to do or will charge an INSANELY exorbitant amount. WAHAHAHAHH!)
one last thing, i know the probability of the phone coming to singapore is kinda low. but with the exposure and awareness the contest is generating, can the chances be bumped up just that little higher? *innocent pleading look*

I guess I’ll keep my hands off iPhone and look out for this set first!!! This looks interesting, cannot wait to see and use it with my own eyes and hands.
I want!!! the $100 and the phone!!!
This is so damn awesome! Owning a INQ would mean having all means of communication and a touch to all social media!
It feels like “Love at first sight!” Everyone, both the young and the old, would love to have one of these stylish phones! t has easy access to the functions and it is affordable as well! (:
Whats more amazing than this?! A portable stylish phone that does wonders!
Hello, great post! I was so tempted to get one for myself when I read your post!
The first wow- factor that attracted me was the arty farty design of the box! Even the packaging was so unique and colourful. It certainly changed my perception of a mobile phone- its not just an object to chuck aside when you don’t need it, but it’s something to be admired and cherished. It’s a piece of art.
What I loved most about INQ Mobile Phone was the practical applications and prices that are not sky rocking high as well! Personally, I spend an average of 8 hours on the internet each day- frantically checking emails, chatting with friends over msn, selling things on ebay, facebooking. I could save so much time and effort on checking different websites since INQ stores all of them in one inbox! My life is much more organised with these applications. That’s really incredible!
INQ has the “looks” and “functions” all in one! I think I have fallen deep for it~
Wooh! Nice and handy hand phone! Now I do not need to carry my laptop everywhere to Skype with my siblings overseas or to stay in touch with my friends on Facebook or MSN. It is definitely a new essential accessory that no one should hesitate to get, especially a girl who is always on-the-go like me :D
